Description
The grand manor house at Farnborough Hill was originally built for the publisher Thomas Longman in 1860. Following Longman's death in 1879, the exiled Empress Eugénie, widow of Emperor Napoleon III of France, bought and expanded the house in 1880. She was an active member of the local community and Queen Victoria was a frequent visitor. On her death in 1920 it was left to her nephew and upon his death 6 years later was purchased by the Religious of Christian Education. It is now a Catholic Girls School located in Farnborough, Hampshire, England and is Grade 1 Listed.
