Description
The ornate facade showcases a detailed Gothic Revival style with pointed arches and intricate wooden carvings. Reflective windows add contrast to the rich textures. Part of the ornate architecture that makes up Farnborough Hill located in Farnborough, Hampshire, England.
The grand manor house at Farnborough Hill was originally built for the publisher Thomas Longman in 1860. Following Longman's death in 1879, the exiled Empress Eugénie, widow of Emperor Napoleon III of France, bought and expanded the house in 1880. She was an active member of the local community and Queen Victoria was a frequent visitor. On her death in 1920 it was left to her nephew and upon his death 6 years later was purchased by the Religious of Christian Education. It is now a Catholic Girls School and is Grade 1 Listed.
