Description
Hadrian's Wall stretches almost 80 miles across the Cumbrian and Northumbrian landscapes in England. This section lies towards the western section near Carlisle and Brampton.
Built to guard the wild northern frontier of the Roman Empire in AD122, Hadrian’s Wall was more than just a barricade; it was a vibrant and multi-cultural occupied military zone of mile-castles, barracks, ramparts, forts and settlements from the North Sea in the east to the Irish Sea in the west. The building of the Wall required an outstanding level of engineering skill and still stands today as a testimony to the power and reach of the mighty Roman Empire.

In addition to the banner, I am adding this more permanent recognition of its FEATURE on the homepage of A TREE OR TREES IN BLACK AND WHITE. I try mightily to feature only images that would be at home in a juried competition. No doubt that this image fits that bill. CONGRATULATIONS! And consider adding your image to DISCUSSIONS "Please post your featured photograph here" for greater, long-lasting visibility.
