Description
Intricately carved ceiling with ornate patterns and stone detailing is seen in Salisbury Cathedral built between 1220 and 1258 and a prime example of Early English Gothic architecture. Formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is located in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.
The cathedral was one of the first major cathedrals built on an unobstructed site, allowing for a cohesive design. The use of pointed arches and lancet shapes throughout the structure exemplifies the advancements in Gothic architecture during this period.
