Description
Salisbury Cathedral stands majestically under a clear blue sky. Built between 1220 and 1258, is a prime example of Early English Gothic architecture characterized by pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses, which allowed for the creation of its impressive 404-foot (123 m) spire, the tallest in England. Formally known as the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, it is located in Salisbury, Wiltshire, England.
Salisbury Cathedral has played a vital role in the community and the Church of England. It is home to one of the best-preserved copies of the Magna Carta, a document that is foundational to English law and democracy, dating back to 1215. This copy is believed to have been brought to the cathedral shortly after its signing at Runnymede.
