Description
Two tall stained glass windows depict historical figures with intricate patterns and symbols. The vibrant colors and details highlight the craftsmanship in York Minster situated in York in the county of Yorkshire, Engand.
York's cathedral church in England is one of the finest medieval buildings in Europe. The Minster is also known as St Peter's, its full name being the 'Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of St Peter in York'.
There has been a church on the site dating back to 627, a stone Saxon church survived Viking invasion in 866 but was ransacked by William the Conqueror's forces in 1069. William appointed his own Archbishop, Thomas, who built a great Norman cathedral on the site. The present Gothic-style church was completed in 1472 after several centuries of building. There are many layers of history below the foundations with Roman columns being unearthed when repairs were carried out.
